CES: This Year In Consumer Electronics
By BE Staff | Published  01/9/2006

Now that CES is over, we can get some honest feedback from participants and attendees without the feel of a sales seminar!

ABC News released its CES picks, which include new XM and Sirus products, wireless speakers and a slew of portable devices.

Driving factors for this year's CES?  It was all form and functionality - or in more specific terms style and multifuntionality.  Items that are being built to achieve more than a single goal were top on critic's lists.  Single purpose items had to be on top as far as design to make it to the same list.

Things to look for this coming year: New spin on old GPS - trackers for everything from kids, dogs to your remote...ok, maybe not the remote quite yet.  More wireless tools, toys and gadgets are also on the list.  Finally look this year for a battle to ensue between television manufacturers for bragging rights to the biggest tv.

What wasn't at the CES show that we should know about?  We think it is the medical industry that will see some major leaps this year for consumer products such as robotic limbs that work off of your body's neuro network...not the digital camera or mp3 player that CES attendees like to ooh and ahh, but major breakthroughs in consumer based products none the less.
