Small Business Missing The Software Boat?
By Dominic Willett | Published

I know it is just a press release, however I found it alarming that the article from the makers of Filemaker database software found that about half of the companies surveyed are still using paper and file methods to keep company critical data such customer lists etc. Why don't small business see the potential increase of productivity and revenues (from more advanced marketing practices)? It could be the growing number of software consultants, designers and developers coming from layoffs in manufacturing - bringing with them more heart than knowledge unfortunately. Another item of interest here: 80% have websites, only a third think that it is important to their business. This is more proof that websites are much more than design - and that usability for the owner and website visitor should have been the goal from the start. Being in the middle of this industry, I know that this is caused by the same reason I stated above - too many designers, too little knowledge. Dominic Willett
